Get Clear Answers for Easier Property Care With the Right Landscape Company

Let's Get Started!

Understand the Work Before Anyone Steps Onto the Property

Good property care feels simpler when expectations are clear before work begins. Scheduling, recurring visits, seasonal treatments, project payments, weather delays, and follow-up all matter when choosing the company responsible for maintaining an outdoor space throughout the year.

These frequently asked questions cover the practical details worth knowing before hiring a landscape company in Pine City, Minnesota. Jeff’s Outdoor Services has served homeowners, cabin owners, businesses, and municipalities across East Central Minnesota and Western Wisconsin since 1995. Familiar crews, recurring routes, broad seasonal capabilities, and straightforward communication mean fewer loose ends for clients managing busy homes, second properties, or commercial sites.

The answers below explain how the work is handled, what each service includes, and what clients can expect before, during, and after a visit.

Lawn Mowing & Maintenance

What is included with weekly lawn service?

Our weekly lawn service includes mowing, trimming weeds, blowing clippings from hard surfaces, and a property check. The property check helps identify safety concerns, damage, or other noticeable issues, especially for seasonal and second-home properties that may be unoccupied between visits.

Why don’t you offer bi-weekly mowing?

We provide weekly mowing to maintain a healthier, more consistent lawn. Bi-weekly mowing often allows grass to become too tall between visits, resulting in excessive clippings, an uneven appearance, and unnecessary stress on the lawn.

What height do you mow at and why?

We typically mow at approximately 3–3.5 inches, depending on conditions. Maintaining a proper mowing height encourages deeper roots, helps retain moisture, and promotes a healthier, more resilient lawn.

What happens if it rains on my scheduled mowing day?

If weather or wet lawn conditions prevent us from mowing safely or without damaging your lawn, service may be delayed. We will resume mowing as soon as conditions allow.

Do I need to pick up toys, hoses, pet waste, or other items before mowing?

Yes. Please remove toys, hoses, pet waste, furniture, and other objects from the lawn before your scheduled service. This helps our crews work safely and efficiently and prevents damage to your property or our equipment.

Do you bag grass clippings?

No, we do not bag clippings. Leaving finely cut grass clippings on the lawn returns valuable nutrients and organic matter to the soil, helping support a healthier lawn.

Weed Control & Fertilization

How many lawn applications do you recommend each year?

For the best results, we recommend a season-long program of 4–5 applications. This provides your lawn with nutrients and weed control at the appropriate times throughout the growing season.

How long should people and pets stay off the lawn after an application?

People and pets should remain off treated areas until the application has completely dried. Drying time varies depending on weather conditions and the products being applied. As an added precaution, we recommend waiting up to 24 hours before returning to the treated area

How soon can I mow after treatment?

For best results, we generally recommend waiting at least 24 hours after a weed control application before mowing.

What happens if it rains right after my lawn was treated?

It depends on the product being applied and how soon the rain occurs. Some products benefit from rainfall, while others need time to dry and absorb into the plant. If you are concerned about rainfall following an application, contact us and we can determine whether the treatment was affected.

Can you treat crabgrass, creeping Charlie, and other difficult weeds?

Yes. Our applications are designed to target these hard to kill weeds. Depending on the time of year and application you start with, an additional specialized treatment may be required.

Landscaping

Is a deposit required for landscaping projects?

Yes. A 50% deposit is typically required before landscaping projects are scheduled. The remaining balance is due at completion.

How should I care for new plants & trees after installation?

New plants & trees need consistent watering while their root systems become established. Keep the soil evenly moist but not saturated, and pay close attention during hot, dry, or windy weather.

How should I care for newly seeded areas after installation?

New seed needs consistent moisture to germinate. Water lightly and frequently enough to keep the top layer of soil moist without creating puddles or runoff. Avoid heavy foot traffic and mowing until the new grass is established enough to handle it. New grass is generally ready to mow when it reaches about 3½–4 inches tall

How should I care for new sod after installation?

New sod should be watered thoroughly immediately after installation and kept consistently moist while roots establish. Avoid heavy foot traffic and do not allow the sod to dry out during the establishment period. New sod is ready to mow once it has rooted firmly into the soil and cannot be easily lifted at the edges. This typically takes about 2–3 weeks, depending on weather and growing conditions.

Snow & Ice Management

When does your snow season begin and end?

Our contracted snow season runs from November 1 through April 30.

When can I expect my property to be plowed during a snowstorm?

Commercial properties are generally serviced first to meet business and safety needs. Residential properties are typically serviced after the storm has ended. During larger or extended snowfalls, we may service residential properties during the storm and return for final cleanup once snowfall has ended. Timing may vary based on snowfall, road conditions, storm duration, and contract details.

Can I request service after a storm if I am not already a snow customer?

Snow service is primarily reserved for contracted customers. We generally cannot guarantee availability for one-time or last-minute snow removal requests.

Mosquito & Tick Control

How does your mosquito and tick program work?

Our mosquito and tick program includes monthly scheduled treatments May through September targeting areas where mosquitoes and ticks commonly live and rest, including lawn perimeters, landscaping, shrubs, and other vegetation.

How long should people and pets stay out of treated areas?

People and pets should stay out of treated areas until the application has completely dried. Drying time will vary depending on weather conditions.

Do you offer one-time mosquito treatments?

Yes. One-time treatments are available for customers who need temporary protection for events or specific occasions. For ongoing control throughout the season, we recommend our full mosquito and tick program.

Bare Ground Vegetation Control

What is bare ground vegetation control?

Bare ground vegetation control is designed to prevent and control unwanted plant growth in areas where vegetation is not desired. It will eliminate all growth in the application area.

Where can bare ground treatments be used?

Common treatment areas include gravel lots and driveways, fence lines, rock areas, storage yards, and other non-lawn areas where vegetation is unwanted. We evaluate each site to determine where treatment can be safely and appropriately applied.

How long does bare ground vegetation control last?

Bare ground treatments are designed to provide extended vegetation control and can often last much of the growing season. Results vary based on weather, soil conditions, weed pressure, and the treatment area.

Billing & Customer Responsibilities

Is there a fee for paying by credit card?

Credit card payments over $3,000 are subject to a 3% processing fee. If your payment exceeds $3,000 and you would like to pay by credit card, please contact our office before submitting payment so the processing fee can be added to your balance. ACH payments are available with no processing fee.

What should I do if I have a concern about completed work?

Please contact our office as soon as possible if you have a question or concern about your service. Providing photos and details, when possible, helps us review the situation quickly. We want the opportunity to address concerns promptly and determine the appropriate next step.
